Val Kalnins, R.Ph., has been the leading voice for pharmacists and the profession of pharmacy in the state of Colorado for over 25 years. His respect and admiration for the profession remain the enduring, driving force of his career.

Joining the Colorado Pharmacal Association (CPhA), Legislative Committee in 1985, he entered the legislative world providing testimony at the Colorado capitol for CPhA which led to his work on passage of four sunset bills.

Upon completing his 20 year career with Walgreens as pharmacist and Pharmacy Supervisor, Val became the Executive Director of the Colorado Pharmacal Association in 1994.

Within a few years, he assumed directorship of the Colorado Society of Health-System Pharmacists and merged the two associations as the Colorado Pharmacists Society.

In 1995, to support the sunset legislation process regulating the practice of pharmacy, Val assumed leadership of the Colorado Pharmacy Coalition to present a unified voice to legislators in the state house.

From March 1994 through April 2015, Mr. Kalnins led smooth passage of the pharmacy practice sunset legislation, not once but twice, and represented the practice nationally and in Colorado; at the State Board and the the Offices of Medicare and Medicaid.

Still active in practicing pharmacy and representing the Colorado pharmacists’ voice in governmental affairs, he can be reached by cell phone at 303-669-3080 or by email val@valuepharmacists.com.
