As a state pharmacy association/society executive, I had the privilege of “belonging” to every national pharmacy organization in the alphabet soup of pharmacy organizations: APhA, ASHP, NACDS, NCPA and ASCP. One of the most beneficial memberships is with the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA).
I recently returned from the 2015 national meeting of NASPA held in conjunction with the NASPA Total Store Expo and had a chance to hear from the leaders in pharmacy on the latest national legislation and pharmacy initiatives. Topics included:
- MAC and FUL in Medicaid
- Provider status
- Evolution of MTM
- Broad Collaborative Practice Laws
- States focus to remove restrictions for collaborative practice and expand authority for pharmacists to administer medications and immunizations
- Administration of psychotropic medications (potential J&J funding)
All topics we’ll see more about in the future.
